No. 4

Don't let the number fool you. We kept the old name, even the majority of Ross' original routing. But in 2000, Fazio officially opened No. 4 as a brand new course, his Tribute to Pinehurst. It was the co-site of the 2008 U.S. Amateur, and offers a championship challenge to those who dare, including over 140 pot bunkers that dot the landscape. It also offers some of the most picturesque scenes at Pinehurst, including the 13th and 14th water holes.

In our fast-paced world, we've come to value traditions that reach out  to touch the past. That's why Mid Pines is so special and rare among golf clubs. It has 18 holes that are in exactly the same positions with the same numbers as when the course opened in 1921.Many people have characterized the course as "pure Donald Ross" because of how it fits the land where it was built. It has few forced carries or artificial or contrived holes. Says Lee Pace, writing about the course in Pinehurst magazine: "Mid Pines was never conceived as a daunting task to the finest players competing under championship conditions ... Mid Pines was intended simply as a fun course with adequate challenge for members and guests of a private club and resort."

Routinely named among North Carolina's top two or three courses (and NC is unusually blessed with exceptional golf courses) Pine Needles stands as one of Donald Ross's most praiseworthy creations. And with its 2005 renovation, Pine Needles has been restored to Ross's original intent. "Time had softened some of the challenges of Pine Needles," said John Fought who led the renovation. "We tried to bring those subtleties back, especially around the greens." Aided by aerial photography from last century, Fought was able to match Ross's original vision.

Holly

A special signature design by golf's legendary world traveler, Gary Player, the Holly course is the perfect compliment to the Magnolia. The Holly features fewer bunkers, more water and smaller greens. Vast areas of longleaf pines were left untouched, and the course features numerous natural waste bunkers.  The design utilizes the property's many lakes, ponds and streams that wind through numerous wooded areas throughout the course. Multiple tees present a variety of challenges, but the course is definitely playable for golfers of all skill levels. The Holly is proud to have hosted the Carolinas PGA Pro-Pro Championship, as well as numerous other Carolinas Golf Association and USGA qualifying events.

Magnolia

Originally designed by Gene Hamm, the 18-Hole, par 72 Magnolia  Course opened to rave reviews in 1989, and within two months was ranked as one of the top 50 courses in the entire southeastern United States by Golf Week. The Magnolia has seen a complete multi-million dollar redesign, to include new greens complexes with Crenshaw Bent Grass, bunkers and cart paths. The result is a truly fantastic lay-out with emphasis on risk-reward golf. In an area that boasts numerous award winning courses, the Magnolia remains a local favorite. The course is characterized by vast elevation changes, generous driving areas, and spacious challenging greens. In the summer edition of the 2003 Pinehurst Magazine, the Magnolia was ranked as the fifth best course in the area, by the 43 PGA Golf Professionals. Please us NC 211 entrance
